ABOUT NISBET PLANTATION BEACH CLUB
Once the home of Fanny Nisbet, Lord Nelson’s wife, this is the only deluxe plantation house situated right on the beach in the Caribbean. Like all the plantations, life here centres on the Great House, a magnificent 18th-century building with its wide oak floorboards and spectacular terrace looking down to the sea. The cocktail bar here and the elegant restaurant under the watchful eye of Patterson make every evening really special and the food is delicious. An avenue of palm trees leads from the Great House all the way down to the sands of the beach and the 36 rooms are dotted around the avenue in a variety of suites and cottages.
Daytime life at Nisbet is centred around the lovely beach where there is safe swimming and good snorkelling. Coconuts is the beachside breakfast restaurant where a magnificent buffet of exotic local fruits and local cooked specialities are the ideal start to the day. Lunch is in the casual beach bar whilst dinner is served in the Great House. Thursday night is the weekly beach barbeque where visitors join residents for alfresco dining with a steel band beneath the stars. Nisbet has a large pool next to the beach and also a tennis court for your use.
As well as the pool and tennis court staff can arrange for guests to enjoy other activities on Nevis like hiking up the mountain (for the very energetic) or strolling through the rain forest for more gentle excercise. Yoga and spa treatments are also available to guests.
The staff at Nisbet are as friendly and as helpful as you could wish for – nothing is too much trouble, many of them have been at Nisbet for decades so it’s no surprise to find so many regular visitors to this elegant but informal haven of beachside luxury.
