The Hermitage is a true Caribbean gem. A fascinating mixture
of cultures has created a warm, friendly atmosphere in the most traditional of
settings centered upon the Great House which is reputedly the oldest wooden building
in the entire Caribbean. The summit of Nevis Peak provides the backdrop to the
lush tropical gardens which house the traditional gingerbread cottages in the
grounds with each different from another but all with a character and charm of
their own. Their names conjure up their atmosphere - Stable House, Treetops,
The Loft as well as the awesome Manor House. The Hermitage exists today because
of the dedication and vision of Richard & Maureen Lupinacci, a fascinating couple
who have lovingly restored these 17th century buildings and added more in exact
traditional style. Under their guidance and with the help of their charming son
Richie, guests enjoy a truly unique and friendly atmosphere here – relaxing
by the pool or exploring the island – before returning for dinner prepared by
the legendary cook Lovey Boddie. This is a genuine piece of real Caribbean history – a
wonderful experience.
