Rawlins Plantation is a famous landmark on the island of St. Kitts and it is steeped in history. Today it is a peaceful Caribbean Inn built
from the ruins of a 17th-century sugar cane plantation on the lower slopes
of Mount Liamuiga in the tranquil north of St. Kitts. Set in 12 acres of incomparably
beautiful grounds, the life of Rawlins is centered on the historic Great House.
This is the home of the renowned restaurant at Rawlins where guests and visitors
alike have travelled from far and wide to enjoy the most sumptuous food in
wonderful surroundings. Dinner here is a joy but lunch has also gained a reputation
throughout the island. A delicious and genuinely West Indian buffet is prepared
every day using local ingredients and Caribbean cooking skills. A cool drink
on the terrace followed by lunch and then a stroll round the grounds is the
ideal lunch venue. Accommodation at Rawlins is arranged in charming and varied
guest cottages dotted around the grounds and they are all individual and characterful
places to stay. One of them is actually a converted windmill and others have
enchanting and descriptive names such as The Mill and Copper Hole. This is
one of the most charming and relaxing settings on the island.
